The Honda XBR 500 was launched in 1985 in response to the Yamaha SR500. The XBR was powered by a single-cylinder four-valve engine putting out up to 44bhp depending on the market. A fine handling bike with good performance, the final iterations were supplied with traditional wire wheels and tubed tyres. A detachable pillion seat cover was supplied to simulate a café-racer look, but Honda subsequently released a dedicated café racer version, the GB500 TT, with "classic British qualities", such as a solo seat, seat hump, wire wheels, two-into-one exhaust system and a fuel-tank with gold pinstriping reminiscent of the earlier AJS and Velocette machines.
This one owner example shows around 28,000 miles recorded in the last 34 years, having been kept off the road in storage since 2016 when the last MoT certificate expired. Offered from the estate of a local collector, and with an older V5 and key, the bike is offered with No Reserve.
Interested parties should note that buyer's premium for motorcycles and scooters is set at 12.5%+VAT.
