A photograph album circa 1884 containing approx. 30 albumen print photographs of India, mainly Darjeeling and environs, images include several architectural/topographical scenes of the town, some with snow capped Himalayas visible in background including Kangchenjunga; Darjeeling Himalayan narrow gauge mountain railway; several images of indigenous people including Lepcha, some depicting weaving and craftspeople, others posing in traditional dress, ceremony with drums etc; river valleys, mountains etc. including Teesta suspension bridge, near Darjeeling, etc, images mainly approx. 24 x 29cm, a few slightly smaller including British colonials posing during pic-nic at Rangaroong and Birch Hill, contemporary caption beneath, image at end captioned "Members of the Calcutta Cricket Club", 31 gentlemen posing in front of pavilion, contemporary manuscript pen & ink and pencil captions beneath listing those photographed, including Maharajah of Kuch Behar [Maharaja Nripendra Narayan (1862-1911)], and two other images similar of Calcutta cricket and football clubs, each approx. 24 x 30cm; plus a few other images loose including Brunei, Sarawak, Venezuela etc, 40+ images in total, oblong folio, contemporary black leather gilt (v. worn, lacks backstrip)
