Half length portrait study of General Sir William Lockhart.
William Lockhart served in his career in the 44th Bengal Native Infantry, 5th Fusiliers, 14th Bengal Lancers and was appointed aide-de-camp to Brigadier-General Merewether in the Abyssinian expedition. In various campaigns and actions he received the Dutch war medal and clasp and Knight Commander of the Bath, before being appointed Commander-in-Chief in India.
