A selection of smaller and slender 19th century miser’s purses, of differing constructions, the shortest approx. 11.5 cm, the longest approx. 20cm: a woven bead example in cream beads with ginger end panels designed with Spring flowers, fitted with embossed gold rings; a plain, slender, ruby purse, two gold rings, one decorative metal bobble; a mesh example in autumnal stripes, gold metal bobbles formed as acorns, two gold metal rings; a plain black crochet example with silver metal rings and bobbles; a brown net example beaded with cut steel and turquoise, cut steel tassels and two silver metal rings; a crochet purse in cream, plum, and dark salmon, this section designed with paisley boteh, incorporating cut steel beads and looped tassels, two silver metal rings; a brown crochet purse with decorative gold metal rings and minute gold beads; a mesh example worked in three bands, salmon, brown and pale raspberry, the brown section worked with gold beads and the opposite end with blue, none-original tassels fitted; and a final very dainty example worked in bands of green, mid-blue and ginger, one ring, end tassels in cut steel (9)
Example one lacks one end bobble. The last 3 have damage mainly where the rings have rubbed.
