A George V Military Medal and group awarded to Pte W Tarbotton, 17th Bn King's Royal Rifle Corps in 1918: MM inscribed A204027 Pte W Tarbotton, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal inscribed S4-070850 Pte W Tarbotton ASC. Includes Army Form Z21 'Certificate of Transfer to Reserve on Demobilisation' plus copy of report of award from Hull Daily Mail. There is also Pte Tarbotton's KRRC Cap badge on red felt backing. MM had hanger modified to take a chain by Pte Tarbotton's widow, who wore it around her neck. Newspaper report reads '...When in action at Wychette Ridge in April 1918 and all battalion stretcherbearers had fallen, he undertook and succeeded in dressing and carrying his wounded comrades to the first aid post under terrible shell and machine gun fire'.
