SOUTH AFRICA INTEREST, A VICTORIAN SILVER TROPHY CUP, the bowl engraved with foliate decoration and presentation inscription 'PRESENTED BY W.E. ROBARTS Esqr. MAYOR OF DURBAN TO THE NATAL YACHT CLUB 1886', the reverse 'WON BY MR. G.E. Spradbrow's 'Florence' December 11th 1886', on a stem with beaded knop, the circular foot engraved and beaded, makers Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham 1883, height 21cm, approximate weight 7.3ozt, 228 grams (footnote: the facsimile newspaper clipping relates to Herbert James Spradbrow, George Edgar Spradbrow's son, it notes Herbert (born 1885) was a boat builder and had himself won yachting prizes including 'Florence II' (a newly-built American Scow..) (condition: rocks on a level surface, base has been dented, the bowl has a dent and several dints)
