MGC/ Wiltshire Regt casualty Military Medal MM group of four. Awarded to Private James Longhurst who served in France with the Wiltshire Regiment and later was awarded the Military Medal for gallantry with the 25th Machine Gun Company and died when on service in the last month of the war.
Comprising: Military Medal 1807O PTE J. LONGHURST 25/ MGC, 1914/15 Star 10887 PTE J LONGHURST WILTS R, British War Medal, Victory Medal PTE WILTS. Medals loose with a small quantity of research. The announcement of the Military Medal appeared in the London Gazette on the 17th June 1919.
Private James Longhurst was born in Stoke Surrey, serving with the Wiltshire Regiment he landed in France on the 19th January 1915. Later transferring to the Machine Gun Corps he was posted to the 25th Company. The date of the London Gazette would indicate the MM was awarded in the last months of the war. Private Longhurst was reported died on the 1st November 1918.
