Queens South Africa Medal bars Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg and South Africa 1901, correctly impressed 855 Pte D Vethercott S Wales Bord

Condition GVF (see surname difference, as per rolls)

David Vethercott was born in Hillsmore, Wellington. He attested, aged 18, joining the South Wales Borderers. In civilian life, he was a Labourer and had lived in Brecon. With the 2nd Bn, he served in Burma from 9th May 1886 until 9th November 1888. He was discharged to the reserves on 5th April 1891. Recalled to serve in the Boer war on 27th December 1899, he saw action at Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Johannesburg. David was discharged in late 1901.
