An early 20th century French violin and bow made by Jenny Bailly (one of the first female violin makers on record), the violin with Bailly's hand signed label and numbered '553', overall length 23 1/4 inches, main body length 13 3/4 inches, the bow stamped 'Jenny Bailly' below the mother of pearl inlaid ebony frog, 29 inches long, together with original fitted wooden case, with some accessories.

Provenance: Bought from Bonhams, lot 92 from 26th February 2007 auction, for a total of £1852.50
