A.577" prize Volunteer 3 band Enfield percussion rifle to the 26th Middlesex Rifles, by the London Armoury Company, 55" overall, barrel 39" with ordnance proofs and inspector's marks; lock bearing crowned "VR" and "1862" over "L.A.Co"; walnut fullstock with deeply chequered fore end and wrist, butt inset with oval silver plaque engraved "26th Middx R.V. No 1.Company FIRST PRIZE WON By Private H. Scuse. 1864, H.M. Customs", with brass mounts, nipple protector and chain, sling swivels, Kerr's patent brass muzzle and fore sight protector, and later replacement steel tipped brass ramrod.
