An early C17th map of Provence, prepared by cartographer Pierre-Jean de Bompar originally in 1591. Engraved by Baptista Doetecom and published in the 'Mercator-Hondius Atlas-Provinciae' (Amsterdam, 1606-1608). Title cartouche upper left hand corner, with important towns and cities of Provence, rivers, lakes and forests all beautifully illustrated. Handwritten annotation in French and Latin around the margin. A good engraving hand coloured in original colours, with the date of 1594 in the plate, 23" x 17"
