Irish Clare Militia Victorian Officer waist belt clasp circa 1856-81.
Fine rare nickel silver interlocking example with matching numbers to each half. Circlet inscribed CLARE MILITIA; seeded centre mounted with crowned Maid of Erin Harp. Universal pattern rococo ends. VGC 1793 raised at Clare Castle, Enniskillen; destined to become 3rd Bn. Royal Munster Fusiliers in 1881 however 26.4.1882 converted to artillery as 7th Bde, South Irish Division RA; redesignated Clare Artillery 1.7.1889.
