SPECTACULAR COVER FROM FRENCH INDIA (BLOCK OF 8 ½ ANNAS) TO REUNION WITH RARE RED PORT LOUIS BOXED "PACKET" TRANSIT MARK: 25 Jan. 1857 E from Pondicherry to Reunion "via de Madras et Pte de Galle (and Mauritius)" with a block of 8 blue ½a (SG37; a few short perfs at bottom) each individually cancelled by "C/III" dotted diamonds beside red rectangle "PONDICHERRY/PAID" ds. Also, rare Mauritius boxed "PACKET" very finely struck in red on the front which Tarry notes is one of "4 examples recorded". Spectacular Exhibition Item. [Ex.
