Star Lot: A magnificent early 20th century original oil on canvas board painting showing a portrait of a late Victorian lady dressed in a fine blue silk taffeta dress with a delicate lace collar adorning her neck. Her hair is worn in high ringlets tied up in a complementary blue ribbon. This is a wonderfully observed piece with the palette enhancing the figure's natural features. A pale complexion with rosey lips and blue glass eyes fixate on the viewer in an inquisitive pose. Possibly signed, not visible while framed. Clearly the work of a highly skilled and talented individual. Wonderfully framed in a sumptuous deep blue velvet lined frame with gilt surrounds. Dawson Gallery framer's sticker to verso with order no. 496211. A fabulous and intriguing piece. If it could be attributed could be very valuable.
MM: 56 x 71 cm in frame.
