A late 19c marine barometer and sympiesometer by J Blair of Bristol in rosewood case with carved section above the brass cistern cover. The twin register plates are set aslant and have duplicate weather indications and two verniers to allow comparisons on a day by day basis. The central body of the case includes the sympiesometer with a fixed scale of temperatures on the right side of the case with a scale of pressures which slide over it with vernier adjustment. This section of the case also has a Fahrenheit mercury thermometer. The case 99cm h overall.
The barometer tube seems complete and operative. The glasses are undamaged, the register plate for the meter and thermometer are slightly tarnished as is the brass cistern cover. The case is in good condition. the gimbal is missing
