Coventry WW1 Weatherby family medals with:
1. BWM, Victory Medal and Memorial Plaque to 307840 Pte D. Weatherby R. War R. good very fine. David Weatherby was killed in action serving with 1/8th Bn Warwicks during the Battle of Broodseinde on 4th October 1917 aged 23 and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. With copied CWGC, Soldiers Died and MIC, only issued a pair. With a copied photo and some typed research from unit war diary.
2. 1914-15 Star trio to 4182 Pte S. Weatherby R. War R. good very fine to extremely fine. Samuel Weatherby died aged 30 with 1/7th Bn Warwicks on 30th August 1921 and is buried in Exhall (St Giles) Churchyard. With a copied photo and some typed research from unit war diary.
3. 1914-15 Star trio to M2-050447 Cpl J. Wetherby A.S.C. (Pte on Star) very fine. With copied SWB roll, John Wetherby enlisted 18/2/15, discharged 6/3/19 due to sickness and issued a Silver war Badge No 514469.
With copied 1911 Census, David and Samuel are brothers, born in Exhall, surname is spelt Wetherby. Another 1911 Census lists John Wetherby, a motor mechanic aged 28 living in Longford and born in Exhall. Thought to be David and Sam's cousin. (R)
