More Information

The Voyage of the Scotia - An original edition, William Blackwood & Sons, 1906. Book is complete, with all plates and maps present and in generally good condition, save for the following exceptions: plate at page 64 with a mark in blue ink affecting the second image ("Amaswagla" - An Emperor in Captivity); plate at page 142 is coming loose (Break-up of the ice in Scotia Bay etc.); Bathymetrical map with two tears; one small tear to smaller folding map. Both folding maps are light foxed. The book is in fair condition overall, with fading and marks to spine and covers. Bumps all round. Pages somewhat foxed, mostly around margins. Text block split at multiple points, weakening the binding. Plastic protective cover is loosely folded round covers and could be very easily removed.

Lecture souvenir programme appears genuine. Printed by George Gordon & Son, Bristol, with no mention anywhere in the text of being a later facsimile copy. Thread-bound in paper covers. Upper cover is split/torn down most of its length. Pages internally in good overall order with some deterioration surrounding the thread binding.
