Walter Harris was born Coalville, Leicestershire he served in the Boer War and was awarded the Queens South Africa Medal with bars Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, along with the Kings South Africa Medal, with South Africa 1901 and 1902 bars.
He was discharged at the end of his engagement on the 26th of November 1911 at York.
