1696 King William III silver Crown with third bust and unbarred 'A' in 'GRA' (S 3472, Bull 1004). Obverse: right-facing laureate portrait with straight breastplate and drapery, 'GVLILMVS · III · DEI · GRA ·' the final 'A' displayed as an upside down 'V'. Reverse: lion of Nassau in a cartouche with nine billets around at the centre four crowned shields of royal arms, arranged cruciform. The shields represent England, Scotland, France and Ireland with the Irish harp displaying seven strings. Edge: raised lettering reading 'DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI OCTAVO'. Weight: 30.00g. Diameter: 40.5mm. Grade: F - Fine or better, darker toning to the edge of the obverse.
