A pair of 18 bore brass barrelled flintlock holster pistols by Brander, c 1760, 13½” overall, 3 stage barrels 8¼”, octagonal breeches engraved “London” and with London and maker’s proofs; signed slightly rounded brass locks with swan neck cocks and dog tooth borders; plain walnut fullstocks with bulbous butts and shell carving behind the breech tangs; brass mounts comprising grotesque mask butt caps, flower engraved trigger guards with foliate finials, sideplates with trophy of flags and castle tower, and baluster ramrod pipes; horn tipped ramrods, one with iron worm. Good Working Order and Condition (hairline crack below one lock, hardly visible). Plate 14 .
