MOORCROFT H 14.50 x W 15.00 x D 15.00 cm VASE (Shape No 914/6) "DEARLE" Designed By Emma Bossons FRSA (Limited Edition 40 This One Being No 7) R.R.P. £480.00.
(Morris & Co.’s chief designer, John Henry Dearle, was trained by William Morris, and contributed immensely to tapestry design at the company. ‘Golden Lily’ by Morris was designed as early as 1870, and was produced by Morris & Co. between 1880-1917 as a hand-printed woodblock paper. It shows Morris's expansive hand with a symmetrical wandering as well as the detailed touches we associate with Dearle. It is likely that Morris designed the broad lines of this pattern, and it was finished by Dearle. Emma’s Dearle vase is a celebration of rich colours and medieval-inspired flourishes.)
