A PRATTWARE TOBY JUG, c.1790, by the "Pottery which uses a Large Crown", the interior of his hat and base with sponged black, blue and ochre panels, wearing a blue coat and ochre breeches, holding a small empty toby jug in his left hand and a goblet in his right, on a canted base, with female nude moulded handle, impressed crown, 10 1/4" high (Illustrated) (Est. plus 24% premium inc. No restoration, cracks or chips. The black hat is cold painted and has suffered obvious loss to paint. Firing crack to goblet. The glaze has mis-fired giving an almost salt-glaze feel and effect (especially to uncoloured pieces such as handle and hands)
