The Argent Archer Collection. Contact-printed from 164 original Argent Archer half-plate and full-plate glass plate negatives, being commissioned by Bryan Goodman in 2014. Printed onto high quality photographic paper, this celebrated collection covers about 12-years of motoring between circa 1898 and 1915, and the prints were limited to only ten per negative, and this collection appears to be the most complete set, with the previous part-sets distributed a while ago. Featured are photographs originally appearing in Autocar, commercial vehicles, the 1000-mile trial, early racing cars and various personalities. There is also a folder entitled French Road Cars and another folder entitled Small Car Reliability Trials. Many of the photographs are identified, some images remain unidentified. Other sections include the South Harting Hill Climb of 1906, Blackpool Race Meeting August 1905, Scottish Reliability Trials 1905 and Bexhill Speed Trials (?). Some of the images are a little dark and lacking detail, which may be the result of negative deterioration, but others are superb, well-defined examples. Each photograph has an Argent Archer printer label verso. About 363 photographs, with very many duplicates. (5)
