AN IMPERIAL RUSSIAN ST ANNE PRESENTATION SWORD C.1917. With a slightly curved 80.5 cm pointed blade with shallow double fuller, the gilded brass hilt engraved to the knuckle bow in Cyrillic 'For Bravery', with ebony grip and pommel mounted with a red enameled badge for the Order of St Anne. The usual Tsarists monogram to the front of the pommel removed. 94 cm overall. The lack of a Tsarists emblem on the blade and the fact that it has been removed from the pommel might suggest that this sword was presented during the brief period of the 1917 February-October Kerensky Revolution prior to the Lenin's Communists seizing power.
