A Wharton Williams 2W Diving Bell Saturation diving bell from the 1970s. Built by Wharton Williams for 2W, the company which salvaged 431 gold bars worth £40 million from HMS Edinburgh in 1981. Two divers and sometime three, would be in the diving bell for up to 30 days at a time on the seabed, working on shipwreck salvage and seabed pipelines. Connected to a support vessel with pipes and cables, the divers would have all of their kit with them inside the chamber and upon returning to the surface, they would gradually decompress back to the level of atmospheric pressure. A rare find.
