Small framed woven silk jacquard picture (c1850s) depicting a head and shoulders portrait of JM Jacquard. In period wooden frame. Jacquard was the inventor of the first machine loom which used punch cards to create complex images. Considered an early seminal invention in the pre history of computer programming. Frame: W 25.5cm, H 31cm.
