1899 QSA 5 clasps Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, OFS, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal to 5745 Pr Sgt A. Shanks 2nd Rl Fus numerous contact marks, fine, scarce rank of Pioneer Sergeant. CSM Alexander Shanks was Mentioned in Despatches published in London Gazette dated 22nd May 1917 serving with 17th (Empire) Bn Royal Fusiliers. With 4 copied pages of service record, MIC, MID card and rolls, he was born in Linlithgow, enlisted 11/6/97 while serving with 8th Vol Bn R. Scots, former trade of blacksmith, promoted LCpl 29/10/98, Cpl 29/11/99, Pr Sgt 13/3/00, CSgt 12/3/10, CSM 9/11/15, discharged 23/8/19. Also issued a KSA & 1915 Star trio. (R)
