AN 1843-1847 PATTERN OFFICERS HELMET FOR THE KING'S DRAGOON GUARDS. A magnificent 1843-47 Pattern Officer's in gilt brass with a tall central plume, the sides with elaborate scrolling foliage, topped by a black horse-hair plume, the front of the helmet with a large helmet plate of a rayed background, Royal Coat of Arms and battle honour of 'Waterloo' above a band with '1st or The King's Dragoon Guards' and with oak leaves to the rear, with large rosette strap mounts and finely worked chin strap with lion's paw clasp. 34cm high, 33cm front to back *Condition: light dents and scuffs to surface, top plume probably replaced. A magnificent helmet in nice condition.
