RARE AUSTRALIAN P.O.W. USAGE OF THE TYPE 4a CARD EX "[KUCHING] P.O.W. CAMP, BORNEO" TO G.B.; 25 Dec. 1943 usage of the red card (some discolouration from damp and wear - all due to an accident in transit?) from Australian "Roy [Belshaw]" (New Year greetings) to Sydney with Japanese and Australian red/purple censor marks (the former printed; no gap in heading underline, i.e. Type 4a, but unusually discoloured and so appearing claret-purple rather than the usual scarlet) on the front, and only the words "P.O.W. Camp, Borneo." printed on the reverse. Almost all the 25 examples of this Type 4a card recorded by Tett were dated 25 December or undated (and probably sent on or around the same date). Rare usage to Australia.Cross Reference: MILITARY - CENSORED MAIL, AUSTRALIA, MILITARY - P.O.W. MAIL, MILITARY - WWII
