Brian B. Irving (1931-2013)

Watercolour and graphic artist of Yorkshire Dales landscape and farming scenes.

Born into a family of farmers in Bolton Abbey, Brian Irving farmed in Wharfedale, where he spent his whole life. He lived amid the sheep, cattle, horses, dogs, fells, drystone walls and the farming community. All of these are his trademark in watercolour paintings and drawings.

An inspired, naturally gifted and self-taught artist who never stopped sketching when out in the field, he captured, as no other, the essence of the Dales, its landscapes and its people.
