Taxidermy: Corncrake, 19th century. Full mount adult bird on circular wood slice base. Originally part of a large mixed case dating to circa 1883. A good Victorian specimen of this illusive bird. Interestingly the Corncrake is an example of a tautonym, where the genus and species names are the same - Crex crex.
