A GEORGE V NAVAL OFFICERS SWORD, HAT, PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM AND OTHER ITEMS THE PROPERTY OF VIVIAN POTTS. A Naval Officer's sword with a 79 cm single edged, pointed blade with fuller, decorated with a Royal coat of arms, scrolling foliage and rope decoration. With a broad guard with folding inner edge, wire bound handle and lion's head pommel. With sword knot and leather and brass mounted scabbard with twin ring suspension. 96 cm overall. With a bicorn hat with rosette to one side and bullion tassels, internal label lacking. In travelling case marked for Fraser and Davis 78 & 79 High St. Portsmouth. With a sliding ruler in box by W.H. Harling Ltd.
With a collection of ephemera, photograph album and service record for Vivian Potts Gardner 1905-1977. Joining the Navy in 1920 and served aboard many vessels including HMS Hermes, HMS Berwick. The photograph album containing some 73 images of various ships in Hong Kong and other subjects.
Sword with light rust to blade, some wear to scabbard. Hat box with surface rust, hat showing signs of regular use and lacking label. Paperwork with smoke scuffing and wear.
