German WWII type car pennant on a chromed eagle and swastika pole and two Nazi wooden handled metal stamps, liberated from the Hamburg Gauleiter Karl Kaufmann by Captain M J Cottrill of the East Lancs Regiment. By family legend the pennant was used as a doormat for the Brigade headquarters. This lot comes with a letter from the Captain's son, a copy of the relevant extract from the East Lancs 1939-1945 History and a copy of Captain Cottrill's war diary for May 1945, typed later that year.
