Four fans, mid-19th century onwards, to include a pierced wood example, the lithographed leaf featuring an outdoor gathering of ladies in 18th century costume, one holding a folding fan, their suitors plying them with flowers as they take their leisure making flower garlands, the verso with a striking colourful butterfly, painted in strong gold with colours for the markings, guard approx. 27cm; a painted pink silk and feather fan, the bone monture lightly shaped, fitted with a pink silk tassel, overall height approx. 28cm; a bone fan, the monture pierced, the cream silk leaf with gorge sticks à la sultane, the upper leaf bordered with machine made lace; and a large feather fan, the monture of wood, the fluffy feathers marabou to the lower section, topped by cream and dyed red feathers, guard length approx. 33cm (4)
Fade to the silk on the second fan. Loss to two gorge sticks on the third fan.
