A Japanese gold lacquer, cloisonne & mother-of-pearl comb, Taisho period. 5.7 x 10cm; another similar decorated with cranes, 5.5 x 9.7cm; and another decorated with flowers, signed, 5.5 x 9.7cm; a Japanese tortoiseshell comb, with applied metal decoration of a crab, (by repute, purchased from the owner of the French comb museums mother in France described as 'Ancien objet', 4.5 x 8.7cm; and three Japanese combs, probably bakelite. (7) From the collection of Pat Johnstone, a Cornish artist and sculptor, who also had a passion for collecting Asian antiques and especially Japanese combs, kogai and kanzashi. Her collection has been curated for over 40 years and includes items from the Miriam Slater collection.
