A 19th century oak casket; heavily carved in relief with a marine theme, with a central cherubic figure seated and playing a lyre and cornered by four mermaids and scaly mythical beasts to the hinged lid and above the sides and ends further carved with open mouthed mythical beasts and scrolling strapwork-style decoration against a scaly ground etc., raised on four carved animal's paw-style feet (some losses) (32.5cm wide inc feet x 24.5cm deep inc feet x 22cm height not inc cherub)
