A 1972 Norton Commando 750 Interstate, registration number FAA 72K, silver. This matching frame and engine number Commando has had three previous owners prior to our vendor. It was originally supplied by Ken Heanes, Fleet. The second owner resided in Ottery St Mary, Devon. The third custodian a friend of the vendor purchased the Norton in 1974 and our client acquired it from him in 2007. Prior to our vendor's involvement the Norton went through several incarnations including café racer, roadster and Interstate. The Commando was stripped in readiness for a rebuild in the 1980s. The Norton remained in this state being transported around in several boxes surviving several house moves before the restoration commenced in 2007 with completion in 2018 when it was fired up for the first time in May after 35 years in hibernation. Since then the Norton has done approximately 500 shake down miles without any major issues. There is an accompanying file of history detailing the restoration including an engine and gearbox rebuild by Norman White Norton, Thruxton with full detailed data sheet and parts list and a list of restoration and parts used in the frame. Other new parts include the electrical system, wheels, tank, tin work, and numerous other items, but suffice to say approximately £7000 was spent to achieve the example you see today.
