1857 Indian Mutiny Medal Lucknow clasp re-named in neat upright capitals to Ensign T.C. Wharton 97th Regt, suspension has been re-attached, otherwise very fine, ribbon with buckle bar. Thomas Candler Wharton was appointed Ensign from Gent in 97th Foot 11/9/58, promoted Lieut by purchase 11/2/62 and Capt by purchase 28/10/68, appointed Capt in 1st Royal Tower Hamlets Militia 24/6/71, resigned his commission 10/3/75. He does not appear to be entitled to the Mutiny Medal. With several copied LGs and hand written family tree. (Y)
