An antique musical automaton picture. A small chamber group of musicians, moving coloured card figures of a harpist, a violinist and a conductor in period costume perform in front of a curtained window, through which can be seen a country scene with a lake and buildings. The music is provided by a two air cylinder musical box movement in the back of the picture, together with the clockwork motor and all the operating cams and linkages. At the right hand side of the frame is a pull cord to wind the motor and an on/off pull. 47cm high, 44cm wide, 16cm deep.
