CHINESE PORCELAIN BLUE AND WHITE KO-SOMETSUKE SAUCER
LATE MING, TIANQI PERIOD (1621-1627)
painted in tones of underglaze blue with an equestrian figure and attendant approaching a city, 15.5cm diam; together with an UNUSUAL BLUE AND WHITE 'PHOENIX & TRIGRAMS' DISH, LATE MING DYNASTY, CIRCA 1630
painted in the centre with blue and white rings, a variation of yinyang, encircled by the eight trigrams, beneath three cranes in flight amongst clouds and flames, beneath a brown dressed rim, the base with a six-character mark of Chenghua,

PROVENANCE: Each were formerly in a Japanese private collection.

More Information

The Ko-Sometsuke dish with several rim chips and a hairline crack. Trigians dish with two very minor rim nicks.
