A large Louis XV inspired 19th century circa 1880s Japy Freres, Paris ormolu-mounted, brass-inlaid, tortoiseshell and boulle marquetry bracket mantel clock with ogee bracket. The clock having a gilt metal male figure sitting on globe holding a scroll and bag. Canted pediment below with scrolled ormolu embellishments to corners. Circular white & blue enamelled circular clock face with Roman numerals to chapter ring enclosed in gilt metal cartouche. All behind a glazed front flanked by a curved case with further acanthus leaves embellishments and inlays. Checked Trompe-l'œil floor to inside with matching boulle decoration to inside of back door. The front enriched by a gilt metal in relief of possibly Athena with shield and spear with two cherubs. Raised on ormolu foliate supports. The 8-day clock movement stamped Japy Freres, Paris to back with H & F, Paris above. Number 8871 to movement and back plate. The clock all raised on matching ogee clock wall bracket gilt metal ormolu embellishments to corners in the shape of female heads and scrolled acanthus leaf to bottom. With pendulum
