An original oil painting on canvas entitled “First Light” by the well known aviation artist Mark Postlethwaite GAvA, depicting an Avro Lancaster of Bomber Command stationary at dispersals on an airfield, with its two inboard engines running, presumably having just returned from a raid as the tail plane shows signs of battle damage, while in the background another Lancaster is landing and another is stationary; in its wooden frame, 49” x 25” overall. GC. Mark Postlethwaite started to paint as a hobby at the age of 17, and in 1987 became the first ever Artist in Residence at the RAF Museum at Hendon. At the age of 27 he was elected the youngest Full Member of the Guild of Aviation Artists. He is now firmly established as one of the world’s leading aviation artists, many of his paintings have been published as prints. £3000-3500
