A fine and rare 18th century Russian 16-bore flintlock sporting gun by Tula gunsmith, Alexej Leontjev, with long two-stage sighted barrel, the octagonal breech section struck at the rear of the top flat with two gold-lined punzónes of Antonio Comas, the flat lockplate etched with martial trophies and engraved 'ALEONTIEW', the trigger guard, butt-plate and ramrod pipes of gilt bronze decorated with busts of a classical soldier and martial trophies, the finely figured stock with pronounced cheek rest and profuse foliate carving.

Spliced repair ¼" (6mm) deep x 4" (10cm) long to bottom of stock at butt, otherwise very fine (VF).
