It is pleasant for me to hear that the statue is appreciated. Yours sincerely, Oscar Nemon’’; H. W. Thompson - ‘’Statue of ‘’Churchill 1874-1965, Westerham Green’’, pencil, signed and inscribed, 28 x 17cm. and a 33rpm EP recording of Unveiling of Sir Winston Churchill’s statue at Westerham 23rd July, 1969.
Note: Oscar Nemon (1906-1985) created a plaster maquette depicting Sir Winston Churchill and Lady Churchill seated on a bench, famously named 'Married Love,' at the request of Lady Churchill, in 1978. Impressed by Nemon's earlier portrayal of her husband on Westerham Green, she remarked, 'This is how I see him and that is how I love him,' prompting her to sit for Nemon in her London residence. This allowed the sculptor to incorporate her likeness alongside her husband's in the final sculpture. The full-size bronze versions of this sculpture can be found at Chartwell and in Kansas City, America.
