US WW2 Signal Pistol M-8 sideplate marked with triangular stamp "E.V.C.C. / 1942 / US Property Pistol Pyrotechnic M-8" (Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Company). These large pistols have four lugs on the barrel which lock in to a port on the aircraft fuselage enabling flares to be safely fired. Double action, break open breech with a cast aluminium body.
