£5,800
1953 BSA Gold Star, 347 cc. Registration number BSJ 237 (non-transferable). Frame number BB32 2480. Engine number BB32 A383 (see text). Gearbox STD.
The BSA Goldstar has gained legendary status for the fact that they were fun on the open road, had race proven pedigree and that incredible Goldstar exhaust 'twitter'. After World War II BSA introduced the 350cc ZB32 Gold Star in 1948, which enjoyed success in trials, scrambles and road racing. In 1953 BSA was struggling to meet demand for their Gold Star model as they introduced the BB series (BB32 - 350cc / BB34 - 500cc) with an improved gearbox, duplex frame and swinging arm rear suspension. Instant success for the series led to the development of the renowned DB series as success on the track only served to heighten demand for BSA products.
This, non-matching example, was re-registered with DVLA in June 1984 and given an age related plate. By April 1997 it was with The Classic Collection of Newcastle upon Tyne, who sold it to our vendor in April 1999. In 2009 the engine was rebuilt by Dave Flintoff to Clubman spec, the speedo reset and it has covered some 1,268 miles since. Not ridden it since 2014 when its MOT and tax ran out, it should take little to recommission this entry level Gold Star for the road.
Sold with the V5C (please note the engine number is incorrect on this, BB22 GS 10169), and three previous MOT's.
