Major General Sir William Blackburne (1794-1839). An early 19th century manuscript biography detailing his career in the East Indian Company, Madras from 1782, together with William IV certificate of promotion from the rank of Colonel to Major General, a four page manuscript extract from the diary of the resident at Tanjore, 7th February, 1823 and a later manuscript copy of his entry in the Directory of National Biography.
