A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY PAIR AND MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO THE ESSEX REGIMENT. A Great War pair comprising War Medal and Victory medal named to 34665 Cpl,W.H. Foard Essex R. WIth Memorial plaque to William Hurst Foard. Mounted for display with photograph, cap badge and other items. Framed and glazed, 29 x 69 cm. With delivery boxes, two photographs, copied papers and other items. Lance Serjeant William Foad from Plumstead in London was born in 1898. He served with the 11th (Service) Battalion of the Essex Regiment. He died on the 13th October 1918 and is buried at the Vadencourt Cemetery, Maissemy, his headstone reads 'Until the Day Breaks and the Shadows Flee Away', he was 20 years old.
