MALDIVE ISLANDS - A RARE GROUP OF COVERS & AIRGRAPHS FROM R.M. DETACHMENT 350; June 1942/June 1944 group of air letters (7 - franked Ceylon 5c (4) or 20c or GB KGVI 1d strip of three tied by circular undated "RECEIVED/FROM/H.M./SHIPS"), envs. (5 - all with contents, four unfranked, other 6 x GB KGVI 1½d), PPC franked Ceylon KGVI 5c (4) and an airgraph with env. from R.M. detachment 350 to the same addressee in England. Detachment 350 was set up to establish a fuelling anchorage at Addu Atoll the most Southerly of the Maldive Islands and this correspondence traces this exercise with research notes from the vendor. Majority have the framed “P” COY”/R.M. ENGINEERS/R.M.GROUP M.N.& D.O.I” d.s on front. Exceptionally rare items from a secret detachment.
