ARGENTINA/PRUSSIA/FRANCE - THE RARE HEXAGONAL "F. ¦ 38" MARK ON COVER TO PRUSSIA VIA FRANCE: 10 Feb. 1865 unpaid EL from Buenos Aires "P.steamer francais" to Trarbach in Prussia with 12 Feb. (mainly fine) octagonal "CONF.ARGENTINE/SANTONGE" ship-name datestamp on the front beside a fine strike of the v.rare hexagon "F. ¦ 38" accountancy mark used specifically on unpaid mail from Argentina to Prussia via France. Charged "8" in blue crayon with a fine blue 2-ring "AUS FRANKREICH/PER AACHEN" cds across join on reverse. Very few examples of this accountancy mark have been recorded; Exhibition item.
